Artistic Director & Playwright in Residence
john daniels, jr. has been working as an actor, director and playwright for more than forty years. john has written and produced more than forty of his own original scripts, he has acted in over one hundred productions and has directed more than eighty productions for multiple theatre companies and organizations over his career. Matthew ("Matt") Torrez
Musical Director & Building Manager
Matt Torrez has been working in the theatre since he was two years old - singing along with his parent's theatre group in Corpus Christi, TX. Since then Matt has been in more than forty productions, either as an actor or musician. Matt plays many musical instruments and writes and performs his own original music. Matt is starting his career as a Musical Director at the Playhouse. He is a founding member of Playhouse Smithville.
April Daniels
Executive Director
April Daniels has been happily following along after her husband for the nineteen years they have been together. john and April have worked together in more than thirty productions and in December of 2009 they decided to found Playhouse Smithville. April has more than seventeen years experience in business management and many years experience "herding cats" in the form of producing theatrical productions, fund raising and balancing precarious, shoesting budgets. April is currently serving as the Executive Director of Playhouse Smithville.
